Common questions
Does it turn into a subscription?
No. A gift is a one-time payment of $79.99 for 12 months. We never ask the recipient for a card, and nothing renews when the time is up — if they want to carry on, they choose to.
Is there a shipping deadline?
No, and it's the quiet advantage of giving this instead of an object. Physical gifts stop being orderable around 20 December. A year of Ferna can be sent on the 24th and arrive the same morning.
What does the recipient have to do?
Open the email, press the button, and set up an account with their mailing address — that's what the opt-out requests are sent against. Then they add the senders filling their mailbox. Most people do it in one sitting at the kitchen table.
Can I give the code to them myself?
Yes. Whatever you choose, we email you a copy of the code — print it, write it in a card, or read it out. It works exactly the same way and only gets used once.
What if they already use Ferna?
Their gift stacks: the months are added to the end of whatever they already have rather than replacing it. If they're paying for a subscription, they can cancel it and coast on the gift.
What if they'd rather not have it?
Email us within 30 days and we'll refund the $79.99 in full. If the code hasn't been claimed it stops working; if it has, we'll talk to them first.
Will Ferna touch mail they actually want?
No. Ferna only opts out of senders they name themselves. Bills, checks, tax forms, government mail, and packages are never touched.
